I've decided to start writing them down here. I want to write about learning, AI, software, and my personal projects. I'm also interested in writing about the business side of software development, and the challenges of running a startup. I've been a software engineer for over 20 years. I've worked on a wide variety of projects, mostly as a consultant. I am currently working at [Prompt](https://www.prompthealth.com), a startup building software for physical therapy practices, where I manage the AI and product engineering teams. I live in West New York, New Jersey, with my wife. ### Personal * I grew up in Portugal. * I went to high school in Ireland, then lived in the UK for 12 years. I moved to the USA in 2024. * I speak 5 languages. In order of fluency: English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, and French. * I like to play games. Overwatch and Dead by Daylight are by far the biggest time sinks, but my childhood was all about simulation and RTS games (Civilization, SimCity, etc). * I used to stream a horror game (Dead by Daylight) [on Twitch](https://twitch.tv/pocketarc). During that time, I built up a significant following and a strong community. * I used to day-trade and spend a lot of time poring over company financials and historical data. I still enjoy discussing investment strategies. * Over the last several years I've been on a personal improvement journey. I've experimented with the Ketogenic diet, pushed myself forward in yoga and weightlifting, and in the past I have even developed a [28-hour-based sleep schedule](https://28hours.org). I'm always happy to talk about self-improvement. * Every week, I try to learn something new. Whether it's learning a new technology, building a new side project, or writing a new article, I'm always learning.
